    It's HERE! It's HERE!
The day we have all been waiting for is here! I just posted my 1,000th comic strip over at Manley Days!

And to celebrate this occasion I'm posting every strip that happened on this date. Let's see what was going on:

Here we were both concerned about some hard tissue under River's boob.

We were moving out of our Manistee apartment and a month away from moving to Georgia.

This one was just after the death of Alexis' Grandfather. She took it very hard, and it is still hard for her.

I would love it if instead of the many many congratulations I know you all want to give me on this important day, you would tell me one of your favorite Manley Days moments.

A very big event is happening really soon.
I started drawing Manley Days back on January 15th, 2005. Wow. That was a long time ago. Three and a half years ago to be exact. I kept a really consistent pace for two years. In 2006 I only missed 2 weeks of comics. Then 2007 I hit a huge speed bump. I missed about 120 or so strips. I was really busy. But you didn't miss much. Then after regaining momentum at the end of the year 2007. I penciled about 20 strips for 2008, but never got around to inking or posting them.

Then it just snowballed, and I just lost interest in drawing a daily comic. But as I tossed around other comic ideas I started to miss drawing Manley Days. So I restarted with two differences. (1) I started drawing oval eyes, which I started doing on a different strip. (2) I started drawing Manley Days in a larger sketchbook. Which I think gives the newer strips a more tight detailed look.

So this brings me to the reason of this post. I just posted my 999th strip (according to my Blogger's count). That means the next strip I will post will be the 1,000th post!

    Awesome.

    One more new strip.

And now that you have watched me draw most of the strip, you go read the finished one HERE.

And also while on the subject of me loving to watch myself draw:

There is still time to take part in the Ego Challenge 2008!

Two new strips posted to my site.

And the other ultrasound related STRIP.

And you would think that by the third time my wife is pregnant during my run of Manley Days I would be able to figure out how to draw an ultrasound better... you would think.

    Bored...
Well not anymore. Thanks to the blog TOPLESS ROBOT I found all these great photos from the 1982 San Diego Comic Con! Wow. Tons of great photos to check out.

Here in this photo you can not only see the photographer of all these great photos (Alan Light) but thanks to a see through shirt you can see how hairy Walter Koenig is.

And also, Max Allan Collins looks eerily simular to Dwight from the office.

    Go check them out.

    Ego Challenge 08 part 2
Well, I got my first request from my original POST.

[info]alexbot3000requested that I draw Alexis using a light saber against one of those little training droids. Well, here it is:

My apologies to all Star Wars fans, I haven't seen the movie in a long time. And even then I wasn't a nerd about it. So, I probably could have made the details a little more accurate if I knew more than the rudimentary knowledge of the SW universe.

    Okay, whose next?

    Ego Challenge 08!
I'm putting out this challenge to all my Livejournal friends:

    1. Tell me which of my characters you want me to watch me draw.
    2. Tell me what you want that character to be doing.
    3. I'll film myself drawing them and post them here with a message to the person who asked for it.
    4. Please nothing too pornographic.
    5. If demand is super high this may take some time (but, I doubt it will be).

    Here are a couple samples:

    Brock from Super Sized Spy

Kiwi the urban hipster from my revamp of my old book Stories of Kiwi

    Current Mood: dirty
Current Music: Faith No More - shuffle of Introduce yourself, Real Thing and Angel Dust

    Ugly signs
Having a deep love of all this design, this sign that I pass every month or so always makes me cringe.

Sorry for the picture quality, but it was dark out when I took this.

We care a lot about disasters, fires, FLOODS and killer bees
Went to my home town over the weekend (Ludington, MI area). While there my in-laws and I looked at some of the damage caused by record rain fall, flooding and a couple of twister touch downs from the previous weekend.

Here is my brother-in-law Mike looking at where a road used to be.

Here is where either a "twister" or the flood water rapids twisted a roadside guard railing around trees.

More awesome photos under the cut )

Here is another bridge on another near by road.

Thanks to imageshack being super slow today, this post took about an hour to post. bitch.

Yet another post today... that may be a record.

I just posted another strip. Enjoy. Feel free to comment about anything you have seen lately. Jeez, you would think more people would be online, wanting to comment about stuff on a Friday night.

On the shores of the Traverse Bay
Yesterday I took the little ones to the beach here in Elk Rapids. It was overcast, but still warm enough. And yes the water is still freezing.
